The events in San Andreas take place in 1992 - we play as Carl Johnson, who wants to stop drug distribution in his hometown. Vice City is set in 1986 and features Tommy Vercetti, a mobster in the service of the Mafia looking for money stolen during a drug deal. GTA 3 takes place in 2001 and puts the player in the role of Claude, a robber seeking revenge on his ex-girlfriend, who left him for dead during a robbery.
